Report on consultation with PCN members over the Government's proposals on gay marriage
Added Thursday 12th July 2012
This report, prepared by the PCN chair, John Churcher, details the responses of PCN members to a questionnaire on same-sex marriages.
In April and May 2012, PCN Britain asked its members whether they wished the organisation to make representations to the government on its proposals for same-sex marriage. The questionnaire asked members to indicate their view not only on civil same-sex marriages but also on the possibility of church ceremonies. There was also a question about the extension of the principle of Civil Partnerships to opposite-sex unions. Members overwhelming wished PCN to make representations and overwhelmingly supported the notion of same-sex marriage and the option for church ceremonies. The findings were conveyed to the Home Office in June 2012.
